What we collect and why
When you email, write to or phone us
We keep what you tell us, with your contact details, so that we can reply and keep a record of our dealings with you. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running our business and dealing with the people who contact us. Where you are asking about a service you may take up, we are also taking steps you have asked for before entering into a contract.
We do not record phone calls.
When you send us your CV
Our vacancies page invites engineers to send us their CV. We use it to consider you for work with us. Our lawful basis is taking steps you have asked for before a possible contract of employment, and our legitimate interest in recruiting.
If you send us information in connection with a job application, we may keep it for up to three years in case we decide to contact you at a later date.
If you work for us
If we employ you, we collect information about you and your work from time to time throughout your employment. This information will be used only for purposes directly relevant to your employment. After your employment has ended, we will keep your file for six years before destroying or deleting it.
When you visit the website
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking (see our cookie policy).
Like every website, when your browser asks for a page, the service that hosts the website receives the technical details your browser sends with the request: your IP address, the page asked for, the time, and the type of browser and device. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.
We don't record visits to the website's pages.
The website uses HTTPS, so information you send through it is encrypted on its way to us.
When the law requires it
Sometimes we must process or share information to comply with the law, for example if legal authorities ask for it with proper authority such as a court order.
Automated decisions
Nothing on this website makes decisions about you by automated means.

Where it is stored
The website's pages are served from Microsoft's global network, so a page may be sent to you from a Microsoft server outside the UK.
Our email and files are held by Microsoft. Where Microsoft processes this data outside the UK, the transfer is protected by Microsoft's data protection terms, which include safeguards approved for UK data.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries, by email or by letter: we keep them for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry. If it leads to work with us, we keep it with the project records for as long as we keep those.
- CVs and job applications: up to three years.
- Employee files: six years after employment ends.
We keep information for longer only where we need to: to provide a service you have asked for, to comply with the law (including for the period our tax authorities require), or to support a legal claim or defence.
Your rights
