Our aim
We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use a keyboard instead of a mouse, a screen reader, a magnifier or high zoom. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA.
How accessible this website is
The website partly meets WCAG 2.2 AA. The problems we know about are listed below.
You should be able to:
- use every page with a keyboard alone;
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen;
- read every page with JavaScript switched off;
- stop the pictures at the top of the home page from changing, by setting your device to reduce motion: they then don't move at all.
Known problems
- The pictures at the top of the home page change by themselves every few seconds, and there is no button to pause them. They hold still while the mouse pointer is over that part of the page, or while you are using the keyboard in it, and they don't move at all if your device is set to reduce motion. This does not fully meet WCAG success criterion 2.2.2 (Pause, Stop, Hide).
- The photographs in the project galleries have only general descriptions (the project's name and a photograph number), so they don't describe what each photograph shows.
- The photograph on the Design service page has no text description.
- The video on the Energy Modelling service page has no text description of what it shows. It has no sound, so it does not need captions.
- One link opens in a new tab without warning: our LinkedIn page, on the Contact page.
How we tested this website
We tested the website in September 2026, before it went live:
- automated checks with the axe and Lighthouse tools on every type of page, which found no problems;
- using every type of page with a keyboard alone;
- checking every page at screen widths from 1920 down to 320 pixels (the width of a laptop screen at 400% zoom), with and without JavaScript.
We have not yet tested the website with people who use screen readers.
